I have hit the bottom and I can’t go on. I have talked to several people that have been there. I have been close myself. Actually, this is one of the best places you can be. Most people live there life’s in a state of mediocrity. They become comfortable with their life. I remember several years ago, I was working at a second job, power washing FedEx trucks. It was around eleven o’clock at night around the end of January. I was cold, wet, and tired. I remember having the feeling of total helplessness. For me, I felt like I hit the bottom. It was at that time where I pulled this power and motivation from deep within. My first thought was, I need a new fulltime job. The second thought was that I was going to double my salary in a year.
For the next couple of days, I started doing something that I really have never done before. I started to think! I would like to say that I am amazed with the amount of people that spend their whole life’s never thinking, but I am not. Very few people actually spend time thinking. Yes, I realize most people go to school and get jobs. I understand you have to use your brain to accomplish these tasks. You learn math to be able to make good decisions it in daily life. You learn your job to be able to collect a paycheck. How many people think and wander why they do these things? Why do I live the life I do? Why am I the person I am? Is there more out there for me? How can I help others?
Quite often, I hear the saying, “I just don’t know where my day went”. This comes from people that I know. These people have no goals to work for. They spend hours doing mindless things. A typical person will waste almost nine years of their lives watching TV. Now throw in video games and countless hours waiting for the message box to pop up on Facebook, we can add another six years on top of that. Fifteen years of mindless waste. Now I understand you have to have downtime, but fifteen years is nuts!
Here is my suggestion. Pick a small amount of time in your so called busy schedule. Let’s just say thirty minutes. The first thing you should do is write out your goals. This may seem like a frivolous task, but look at it this way. I challenge you to find one successful person or one successful business that does not have a set of goals. You will be searching a long time. Don’t tell me you can’t find 30 minutes out of your day. I am a single father with three kids. I average about 20 hours a week. Don’t tell me it can’t be done. Put a brick threw the TV screen and poof you will magically find time. A great book on Goals that I highly recommend is called, what else “Goals!” by Brian Tracy. Click HERE to see it. He will tell you exactly how to set your goals and follow the path to realizing those goals. Here is the second most important thing. START!!! You can have all the goals in the world, but they won’t do you any good if you don’t start to pursue them.
